In short: Power runs on your Mac and makes no internet connections of its own. There is no account, no telemetry and no analytics, in the app or on this site. What it reads about your battery, your apps, the heat and which apps are keeping it awake stays on your Mac.
This policy explains how Ambysto Technologies LLC ("Ambysto", "we", "us") handles personal information for the Ambysto Power app ("Power") and this website, power.ambysto.com. It applies together with the Ambysto Privacy Policy, which covers all our products. Where this page is more specific about Power, this page applies.
1. What Power reads, and what stays on your Mac
To do its job, Power reads your Mac's battery (charge, capacity, cycle count, temperature, voltage and current; never the serial number), the CPU time your own processes use, the thermal state and, where the Mac reports it, its CPU speed limit, read-only hardware sensors such as temperatures and fan speeds, and the list of apps that are asking the Mac not to sleep. It uses app names and numbers, never command lines or environment. Other users' and system processes are counted, never listed.
- Everything Power reads stays on your Mac. We never receive it.
- History: a battery sample every 5 minutes (time, charge, power source, state, full-charge capacity, cycle count, temperature, watts), one health point per day (date, capacities, cycle count and your Mac's model), thermal episodes, and app readings (app name and numbers). It is stored in
~/Library/Application Support/Ambysto Power/History, in a folder only your user can open, with files only your user can read. - Retention: the daily health points are kept for the life of the install and never deleted. Samples, episodes and app readings older than 7 days are deleted at launch only in the free version, only when no license key is stored on your Mac, and only if Power never kept Pro history there. Otherwise older data is hidden, not deleted. Pro keeps it all. The Settings window can also delete history older than 7 days, after a confirmation that lists the files.
- Your settings, and the keep-awake rules you create (Pro), are stored in Power's own preferences on your Mac.
- Export (Pro) writes a file only when you ask, to a place you choose. It contains app names and numbers, never command lines, paths or environment. You decide where it goes.
- Uninstalling Power and deleting its folder and preferences removes its data from your Mac.
2. Connections Power makes
Power has no network access of its own: it sends nothing to us or to anyone else, and it does not check for updates by itself. It reads your Mac through macOS's own power, thermal and process interfaces, and it does not run other programs. Power asks whether to open at login only when you save your first keep-awake rule, and registers itself as a login item only if you say yes. It asks for notification permission only when you switch an alert on.
3. Your license key
A Pro license key is checked on your Mac, offline. Checking it sends nothing to us.
4. When you buy Pro
Payments are processed by our payment provider. We receive the details needed to issue and support your license, such as your name, email address and billing country, and limited card details such as the card brand, last four digits and expiry date. We do not store full card numbers. We use these details to deliver your key, send your receipt, handle refunds and answer support requests.
5. This website
power.ambysto.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. It is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver and secure the site.
6. When you email us
If you write to us, we keep your message and email address to answer you and to keep a record of support requests.
7. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Power's sales and support, such as payment processing, email delivery and hosting, under contracts that limit their use of the data; with authorities, where required by law or to protect rights and safety; and with a buyer or successor, if our business is involved in a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.
8. Data retention
We keep purchase and support records as long as needed to support your license, and longer only where we must keep records for legal, tax or accounting reasons.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email contact@ambysto.com. We respond within 30 days. Data that Power keeps on your Mac is under your control: you can delete it yourself or by uninstalling Power.
10. International transfers
Ambysto is based in the United States and our providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
11. Children
Power is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
12. Changes
We may update this policy and will post the new version on this page. For material changes, we will notify active customers by email.
